Baby Proofing

I have my hands full now that my little man is on the move. And since he is climbing and standing on everything and so close to walking it was time we baby proofed the house. This is how we baby proofed our fire place without spending much at all.IMG_1845We purchased a foam mattress topper and a few pool noodles. We lined the brick of our fireplace base with the foam and edged the edges with the pool noodles. As you can see it doesn’t look beautiful but it works!IMG_1844Next we used a blanket or whatever you want to use to cover it and make it look a little prettier haha. Since mine is getting covered in toys I was not that concerned.

till next time loves

New Family Member!

Alright if you follow me on twitter or instagram you would have already seen this new member. We got a kitten!!!! We were worried about introducing a new animal to Baby K because you never really know what kind of personality you will get with an animal. I had a pet rabbit for the past few year and after we brought the baby home he started acting out because of jealousy. It truly broke my heart to get rid of him but he went to a great home and gets all the love he can handle now. Anyways we have waited 6-7 months before getting a new pet. It has been raining non stop for days here in Alabama the last week or two so we have been stuck in the house. My husband is always bringing up getting a kitten and so we are always looking on line for people getting rid of them. I never really thought we were going to get one so soon but my husband out of no where said “Let’s go to the shelter tomorrow and look.” I of course got super excited because I love cats! It didn’t rain at all saturday and so we went to the shelter to take a look. I let Baby K pet the kittens and one let him attempt without any hesitation, he is a little rough with animals. Then she got up and climbed in my arms with Baby K. It was so cute. I knew she was the kitten for us. We adopted her instantly and went to the pet store to get her lots of goodies.

He have been trying to show Baby K how to be a little more gently with her but we really couldn’t have gotten more lucky. This kitten is so loving and puts up with all of us. She always wants to be snuggled up with any of us. I would suggest to anyone introducing baby to pets or vice versa is to always be supervising. A lot of pets are not as kind to take the loving abuse of babies or kids and may snap back. Anyways I love this little kitten so much! She is too precious and a perfect addition to our family!IMG_1566Also I would suggest to everyone looking for a new friend to adopt don’t shop!! The humane society is not a super sad place like some people think! So donate money or items if you can or even volunteer! June is national adopt a cat month!

The Perfect Schedule

First off let me say I am sorry I was MIA this past Friday and Monday. My family and I left for the beach on Thursday evening and we came home on Monday. We were wore out and I like to unpack immediately so I didn’t get to posting. Sorry!sleeping-baby(Pic from google images, not my own (: )            So who doesn’t want a baby who sleeps all night?

As the title suggests I have created the perfect schedule for MY family. And this baby schedule may work well for yours as well. If I haven’t said it before then I will say it now.. we live by a schedule in my house. Blame it on the military or just liking to know a routine but a schedule or routine can make a big difference. Being a health professional who specialized in children and pregnancy I wanted to analyze everything, especially with my first baby! Let’s admit it, babies make us crazy.

So on to my routine. Every morning baby K wakes up somewhere between 6:30am-8am. We take our bottle when we wake up even when it is early which it has been lately.

At 8am I make some baby cereal either rice or oatmeal and I mix in a little fruit. I usually try to get baby K to take a little snooze around 10am.

At 11am I give a partial bottle and 2oz of fruit. Back to play time!

At 2pm I give another full bottle and then it is nap time. Baby K usually takes about a 2 hour nap between now and his next meal.

5pm we get another partial bottle and 2oz of veggies. Play time is full swing.

By 7:30pm we are taking our bath and getting ready for bath time. (Of course I have a bath time routine!) Then a full bottle and off to bed to get a full nights sleep and start it all over again the next day!

I don’t use many measurements because your baby may be younger or older. Every baby is different so please use your own reason when it comes to your babies found amounts. Of course follow your pediatrician orders.

This schedule has been implemented even since I was breastfeeding. It has allowed us to get baby K to sleep all night and knows when it is time to eat. I know he is getting full and all the nutrients needed to grow.

Hope y’all are having a great week! Talk to you soon!!

Baby Hack!

This is a new series I am going to start. I read hundreds of life hacks on pinterest but how about some baby hacks?! Do you have a little one who is teething? Or maybe he or she is just out on a super hot day? I started making my little one baby Popsicles and they are so easy to make!!! And they are a huge hit with babies and toddlers!

//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=tf_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=mommy409-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=B000GK5XY2&asins=B000GK5XY2&linkId=505abfc606d8536aec2b83349cf6c9ad&show_border=false&link_opens_in_new_window=false&price_color=333333&title_color=0066c0&bg_color=ffffffFirst get you some of these fresh food feeders, like these from amazon. Pretty inexpensive, about 6-7$ for two. Then you can either use pre packaged baby food or make your own mixes! Spoon some of the mixture into the feeder, usually holds about 2oz. I use a bit of plastic wrap to wrap the feeder and keep it from getting baby food everywhere. and Voila! You have a tasty treat for baby and way to add more fruits and veggies without added sugar into the babies and kids!

And as kids get a little older you can get a Popsicle mold at walmart or target to make big kid popsicles! image1(2)This chunky butt doesn’t lie and baby pops are the sweet solution to hot summer days and sore gums!! Don’t forget the bib tho!!!
