Monday Motivation wk. 2

Another Monday Motivation coming your way! Guys I am so pleased to say that I am down a few pounds already! I have really stuck with my commitment to change my body and being healthier. I have not been perfect over the past two weeks. I have eaten brownies and made homemade biscuits and gravy on the weekend. The important key is balance. Each morning I wake up and make my breakfast, then get my son up and his breakfast ready. If I get hungry before lunch, I typically do, I have a boiled egg or a palm full of nuts. Lunch is another smoothie packed full of kale, spinach, fruit, and protein. Super healthy and actually really tasty and healthy!

I try to stay more conscious about what I put into my body and to help me do so I track everything. I personally use fitbit to track my food but there are so many great trackers out there such as my fitness pal. I like seeing the breakdown of macro and micro nutrients. That may just be the nutritionist in me being a little crazy.

Changing up your workouts is important so that you don’t get bored and your muscles don’t get used to it and bored as well! Lately I have mixed up my workouts with boxing. It can really workout your whole body and is a great way to reduce stress! I really love it and it’s something me and my husband can do together!

Stick with it loves! It takes time to see a change but you can also feel the change when you treat your body with love and focus on your health and goals!

Motivation Monday

As most of you know, last Saturday I had a traumatic experience that left me super upset and ashamed of the way I looked. So last Monday I started a diet and began to revamp my exercise routine. I have to say so far it is going really well. I’ve studied nutrition all through school and knew what I needed to do but making a change when I’ve never had to workout or eat super healthy before was going to be a challenge. I am so proud of myself so far. I have committed to making smoothies for breakfast and lunch. I also eat boiled eggs and nuts for snacks if I get hungry in between meals. I drink a gallon of water a day, or as close as I can get to. For dinner I make some sort of lean protein with a salad. I have had no alcohol, pop, or juice. I have done very well by not cheating as well. This weekend I relaxed a bit because we ate out and went to friends for dinner. I obviously did not restrict them to cooking what I could eat.

I feel as though I can begin to see slight changes. I feel my clothes beginning to loosen up just a bit. I am so excited and no way will I be giving up on this. I definitely want a rocking bod for my honeymoon.

Stay motivated loves! Staying committed is the best way to reach your goals. Keep things interesting and mix up foods and workouts so that you don’t get bored!

Liquid Diet: Yes or No?

Okay So I am not doing a 100% completely liquid diet but as I talked about in my previous post I just find it very difficult to eat fruits and veggies and meat. I primarily eat carbs- eekkk I know! So for this diet I am cutting out majority of carbs and bumping up my fruit, veggie, and protein intake. I am also revamping my workouts. Another part to mention about my new diet is to drink 128oz of water a day to help detox the liver and body. Be careful! You know if you have been around that I have actually given myself water poisoning so don’t go toooo crazy with the water! Aim for at least 80oz to start, especially if you are not a water person. It can be difficult to drink enough!FullSizeRender(11) So far the diet is going very well!! I wanted to share a smoothie that is very healthy! Only 153 calories per serving. The recipe makes two. Of course depending on your protein and liquid choices, the calories may change. I use a 100% whey protein in vanilla and it is sweetened with stevia instead of sugar from GNC (their brand).

Carrot Cake Smoothie, 2 servings:

  • 1/2 C. carrot juice
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3/4 C. almond milk ( I use vanilla and unsweetened)
  • 1 scoop of protein powder
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 5 ice cubes

So Tasty!!

So far my 70% liquid diet is a total YES! it is going so well. If I get hungry in between smoothies I eat a boiled egg or a salad with very light dressing. As I keep tasting and testing smoothie recipes I will share them! I also want to leave y’all with some easy quick exercises that I got from pinterest:IMG_1766Till Next time

Body Shaming, Diets, and Acceptance

Hello Lovelies! If you follow me on twitter (You should! click on the link to the left (: ) then you saw my brief post where I had a really traumatizing experience of trying on some clothes that really tore me apart. So this will be a little bit of a different post.

So Saturday my husband, son and I set off to look for some running shoes and a baby gate. Pretty typical errands type of thing. Well we happened upon a department store near the end of our journey that was completely on sale from going out of business. They had tons of beautiful dresses and so we chose some for me to try on. I despise trying on clothes especially now with this body after baby that I am just not used to. I am in no way huge or fat and I don’t ever expect to be rail thin but it was a depressing wake up call. I couldn’t even get most of the dresses on and one of them that I did get on, I didn’t think would come off. I left the store holding back tears. I know I have been on a journey working out to try and get my body back to pre baby but I was seriously upset. We went straight home, I made a grocery list, I threw out all the fattening foods, and went to the grocery and bought kale. KALE PEOPLE! I bought all healthy foods.

I guess I sort of needed that saturday experience but it really made me sad. I can’t stand to look at my body. And I honestly don’t care about people saying love your body because of it giving me my baby. Of course I love my baby and that I could create such a miracle but I hate the after math. I don’t think anything is wrong with that. I think what is important is that you accept where you came from, where you are, and where you want to be.

I made a baby. I look like I had a baby. And now I am making a change to get my body back and love the way I look.

Okay so moving on to making a change! First off let me say I am 2 months away from having my Masters in Public Health. I have studied health and nutrition and exercise and the human body for many years. I know what I need to do. I just have to stay motivated and committed to this new lifestyle.

I went to GNC and picked up a recommended 100% whey protein from a wonderfully helpful woman working. I also picked up an Organic Superfood blend with protein powder while at the grocery. I rarely eat vegetables so I got this powder because it gives me all the nutrients from eating fruits and veggies!IMG_1768

I have decided to do a high protein, low carb diet. I am making smoothies for breakfast and lunch. Then a lean protein with veggies for dinner. My husband is not fighting me on this because we both are wanting to lose some weight. I will be updating you guys every week with my progress, recipes, motivation, and fitness tips.

I started today. My goal by April 2018 (Honeymoon time!!) is to lose 40lbs. This is roughly 5lbs a month which is absolutely doable. I am not 100% worried about a number on the scale. For myself I want to feel and look good and be healthy. And of course I want my clothes to fit again!

OMG this is my longest post ever. You deserve an award for making it to the end!! I hope I can help motivate y’all and we can all make some changes to be more healthy together!

Fitness Journey

Alright friends it is time to update you on where I am on my fitness journey. If I have not said so before I am on a journey to have my pre-baby body back and I am starting to get there. But now I have an even better reason to get in awesome shape and that is to be looking and more importantly feeling amazing on my honeymoon. My husband and I made the decision to take our honeymoon late and so I am waiting in anticipation to hit the beach with a rocking bod!Screen Shot 2017-06-20 at 12.45.09 PM This is a quick and easy workout! and trust me with the added weight it really works those muscles! Fitness Journey Friday

As you guys know or if you are new to my site, I am on a fitness journey. I am not 100% concerned with losing weight. I just want to feel good and look good. I recently purchased a Fitbit and I am obsessed!!!! Add me if you have one!

Fitbit Charge 2 Heart Rate + Fitness Wristband, Black, Small This is the one I have! Check him out. So if you are not familiar with fitbit, this particular one counts your steps, tracks your sleep, your activity, your heart rate and so on. With the fitbit app you can also track your food and water intake. You can also do challenges against people! Being as competitive as I am I find any excuse to step up and get ahead of the people in my weekly challenges! I didn’t think I would have as much fun with it as I do.

I bought it because I really wanted an Apple Watch but didn’t want to spend that much money on a watch! I tried to find one on sale on poshmark but with no luck. So I decided on the fitbit! I love that it reminds me to move each hour and it really does keep me more aware of my activity and my heart rate. I can honestly say that I am up and moving and feeling better and I have even lost a pound!!

Wednesday Workout

Recently I have been getting up at 6AM to workout Monday thru Friday. This is my new routine:

  • 5-10 Minute Run/Jog/Walk. Just get your heart rate up!
  • 100 Jumping Jacks
  • 25 Squats
  • 100 Crunches
  • 25 Squats
  • 25 Push-ups
  • 25 Squats
  • 50 Russian Twists – try it using 10lb weights or kettle-bell or your baby
  • 25 Squats

Repeat if you are up for it!!!
