My Son is Turning ONE!!

Hello everyone!! I hope your October is going so well! I can’t believe that I have done so well with posting every day so far! haha So today marks the one month mark to my son’s first birthday and as most moms I am so excited!!! I have been planning this birthday party for a while now but everything is closing in on the big day. I wanted to share some of my ideas and party planning tips.

DECOR: I am doing a Dr. Suess themed birthday. I found some decor at Target that I can use to label food in cute Suess ways. I picked up some fabric at Hobby Lobby to create a “banner” to go around his high chair. At the dollar tree I picked up blue and red table cloths and blue, red, and white poster board. I cut up the poster board to create a banner that will display his month by month baby pictures.

FOOD: We are doing a BBQ and grilling lots of yummy foods. I am going to be doing lots of Dr. Suess themed sides, snack, sweets, and drinks.

  • Pink Yink Ink Drink- pink lemonade
  • New Blue Goo- blue punch
  • 1 fish 2 fish red fish blue fish- colored gold fish in a fish bowl
  • poodles with noodles- pasta salad
  • green eggs and ham- pretzels with white chocolate and green candies
  • Dr. Suess Soup- homemade chex mix/ trail mix
  • Truffala Fruits- fruit tray

There are so many ideas that you could do, these are just some that I am doing. I am also making a smash cake and cupcakes. I also ordered a party pack that includes plates, napkins, cups, cutlery, and a table cloth all in my theme.

I consider myself crafty so I am doing my best to make and craft everything that I can instead of buying a lot of the things. I have lots of ideas and I have been working away to make this a great party!

(all photos are courtesy of pinterest, i take no credit but hope to recreate some of these and do them justice. After Baby K’s birthday I will add my own pictures and share how the party went!!)

Movies You Must Watch By Halloween

Hello Friends! If you know me at all you know I am in full Halloween swing. I have been working on lots of looks for the 31 days of halloween and in prep for that I have been trying to watch as many scary, thriller, horror films as possible! Here is my list of must see movies.

  1. Screen Shot 2017-09-12 at 8.53.22 AM Classic slasher movie. Watch the original before the Rob Zombie remake. Both are good!
  2. Screen Shot 2017-09-12 at 8.56.56 AM Nightmare on Elm Street is a must see classic. What is freakier than this creep tying you up and literally cutting you up??
  3. Screen Shot 2017-09-12 at 8.58.55 AM Okay so I haven’t seen the first Scream yet… I know but is definitely on the list and I have to watch it before Halloween.. So should you!!
  4. Screen Shot 2017-09-12 at 9.01.13 AM The Shinning is not super scary but is a thriller. If you haven’t seen it you definitely need to watch Jack Nicholson lose his mind!
  5. Screen Shot 2017-09-12 at 9.06.38 AM The Exorcist is definitely a favorite of mine. Exorcism movies of all kinds actually. They are freaking and so captivating.

Okay I will be adding more to the list the closer we get to Halloween! What are your must watch halloween movies?? Let me know in the comments so I can see more. Me and my husband love scary movies!!

Baby Shower!

First things first.. Congratulations if you are expecting! So many fun things are about to unfold- tiny socks, tons of picture taking, late night diapers. Okay maybe not all of the things are fun but it is exciting. Now for one of the most fun parts is the baby shower! Now if you are anything like me you may be a control freak and want to take all of the planning into your own hands. Sure someone else is supposed to throw it for you but you can help if you want right? After you get your registry all set up then you can go into party mode! One of my best friends is technically hosting and I am helping out. So on to the planning!

Picking a theme was super easy for me. I am obsessed with the ocean and If you haven’t noticed already, when you walk thru the baby sections of anywhere, whales are everywhere! So I went with a whale them for my baby boy. If you check out Amazon and type in whatever theme you choose you can find tons of super cute decorations. I chose vista print to make my invitations. I love using them for just about everything!

Pinterest of course gave us some amazing ideas so definitely use that to get some ideas going!

Here are some photos of what Jenn and I put together with the help of my husband and her boyfriend. Majority of the items were either recycled from my wedding or purchases from the dollar tree and amazon. I got the It’s a boy sign from amazon and the anchor cut outs and nautical toothpicks as well. The chalkboard signs came from my wedding but were purchased from hobby lobby I believe. My husband and I used mason jars at our wedding as favors/drinking glasses and we used the left over jars as favors for the baby shower. We added loofas in a perfect matching color in the jars and labeled them “From our shower to yours.” Jenn made a beautiful diaper cake you can see on the table and also made a diaper flower arrangement.

Games! Okay so I was a dummy and didn’t take pics of… well anything! I tried to be much better about documenting when I went home to Ohio for the baby shower my momma is throwing for me, but I wasn’t.. I was distracted! But we played a few games that were a lot of fun. We had a timed game where the ladies had to blow up a balloon, diaper it and decorate it. Then I get to be the judge of whose baby was the cutest. We also played a game where the ladies raced with a balloon under their shirt and a cork between their knees. They had to run down towards a jar and drop the cork into the jar or start over if they missed! It was hilarious and so much fun.

Lastly is all of our food! As the pregnant lady in the room I am all about the food. I made babies in a blanket by taking little smokies and wrapping them in crescent rolls that I cut smaller and baked them. Jenn cut out watermelon in super cute shapes, we bought the cupcakes already made and put them on a cupcake tower. We made clams out of butter cookies and icing with a sixlet pearl. Jenn made “sea snails” out of cinnamon rolls and marshmallows for eyes. Other than that we had spinach dip and pizza rolls. We made our ocean water punch with a container of blue Hawaiian punch, 46oz can of pineapple juice, and a 2 liter of sprite.

Alright alright I will stop talking so much!! Please leave me comments guys with any questions or comments. I would love to help in any way I can with your party planning!!
