Hey Friends!! I know everyone is anticipating this update. For the past 21 days I have been testing out Stretch mark remover DIY’s. I have started with 2 and if they don’t work I will move on to another 2 to try until I find one that works for me and for y’all!! This is where I started. I know that I don’t have the worst stretch marks in the world but honestly they still bother me. I didn’t get a single stretch mark until a week before I delivered!! How annoying is that?!?!?! Any ways when I ran my hand over my legs I could feel the uneven-ness of my skin and seeing that whiteish and purple/red coloring. I hate it!! I know some say to embrace it but why not be confident about them while trying to remove them? haha So after 21 days I can see a difference!!
It is not perfect but my skin has become more smooth and less uneven. Still not perfect. and the coloring is much better. This is the thigh I have been using the cocoa butter mixture on. Check out my post on DIY stretch mark remover for the recipe. Yes you can see I still have some marks but trust me it is much better!!This last picture is of my left thigh where I have been using the vitamin E. Vitamin E has been working soooo well! I have been super impressed with both of these remedies. I have to say they really do work. The key is patience and consistency. If you can stick with it you can have super smooth legs or anywhere on your body really!
Lastly I am working on reformulating the cocoa butter mixture to be a little more user friendly. It is a solid lotion that melts into the skin. I think for my next batch I will add vitamin E to it and also use molds. Like I say in the past few posts. I am OBSESSED with this homemade cocoa butter lotion. OMG just sooooo good!
Okay y’all that is all for my half way update! I’m excited to see the results at the end of the 45 days!!
How do you pick a theme and colors and decor?!? For me it was so easy. If I would have had a girl I think it would have been much more difficult. Sorry about the lighting in these pictures.
So when I found out I was having a boy I was so excited!! I was born to be a boy mom. I gave no room for negotiation with my husband on how I was going to decorate baby K’s room. I love all things nautical. I slightly felt bad because my husband is in the Air Force and loves planes… but like I have mentioned before I am obsessed with the ocean. Anyways as you can see I went to lowes and picked out a really pretty blue for the top half of the walls and I left the lower portion the pale grey that we painted the rest of the house. Where those two colors meets we picked up this white trim at lowes as well.
I then picked up wall decor up at hobby lobby and amazon. Hampton Nautical Wood and Brass Ship Wheel and Wooden Rustic King Harbor Squared Oar are a couple of the pieces that I got and love! The wall letters and the whale hanging rack came from hobby lobby. They have such cute pieces. I got all of the bedding from target as well as the changing pad and cover, the diaper genie, and many other items. I mean who doesn’t love target?? Click the link below if you wanna find some of the latest baby things from target. I go there probably twice a week. I have a problem just like I do with amazon!
The furniture I got from babies r us. I love this set we got, very classic and will grow with baby and always look good no matter how we decide to decorate in the future! The rocker/glider chair we also go from babies r us.
How did you decide to decorate? Leave me comments (:
That is right my friends I am out to find the best DIY stretch mark remover. Sorry this did not go up yesterday, I thought I had it scheduled. Anyways… I have done some research and I have come up with some DIY natural stretch mark removers. Now of course you can go buy a product that is supposed to remove them but why not spend way less and make your own?!
I am trying out 2 of them at a time. I was going to attempt 4 but it got really messy, literally, and complicated. So I will try 2 of these for 45 days and then try another 2 if these don’t work. I started this new challenge on May 17 and if nothing else I have created the best body cream! The first two I am trying out is Vitamin E and Cocoa butter.
For the vitamin E I simply bought a bottle of Vit. E capsules and I open one capsule nightly and message it into my skin. I know for a fact that Vit. E works on scars because I have used it before to remove fresh scars but I am testing it out on the stretch marks now. The only down fall is that it is pretty sticky. Definitely have to wash your hands after messaging it in and hopefully you aren’t trying to do anything after applying!
Now for the cocoa butter I purchased Raw Cocoa Butter 100% Pure 8oz from amazon. I couldn’t find it in stores in a larger quantity than 1oz in any stores. I then melted it over a double boiler, added just a touch of coconut oil and added a bit of jojoba oil. I poured the mixture into a glass jar and I slather it on every night. OMG it smells amazing and makes my skin feel so fabulous. It makes your skin super soft and not sticky at all.
A double boiler is really the way to go. I attempted the microwave and it doesn’t work.
So far I have not noticed a huge difference but tomorrow marks one week. I have a ways to go to meet the 45 days! Also I did not pull that number out of thin air, the cocoa butter information said 45 days so that is what I am going to give each DIY that I try. So basically 6 weeks.
Alright guys I hope you enjoyed! Try this out with me and let me know what you think or wait and see how this ends up working out for me. Let me know in the comments if you have your own DIY or product that removes stretch marks!!
Alright guys so I have a little bit of a different story for y’all today. I actually made myself sick with water. You heard me right, water. I have always craved water, and no I am not dehydrated, I just really love the taste of plain water. I know it’s weird but oh well. So after I had my son I was trying to drink lots and lots of water so that I could keep my milk supply up. I knew from reading and common sense that water = milk. I ate all the foods that were supposed to help and I drank tons of water. So much water that I began to get really bad headaches and my joints were hurting terribly bad.
I actually gave myself water poisoning!!!! How does one do that?? I was literally drinking over 200 ounces of water a day! That is not an exaggeration. And the regular standard is 8 cups or about half of your body weight in ounces. I was consuming way over what I was supposed to be and I paid for it. It was the worst feeling, especially the headaches which I never get!
Needless to say I got rid of my giant water jug I was drinking from and switched to a smaller bottle. I also track my water consumption on my fitbit app. I know it sounds crazy for someone to go through the trouble of tracking water but I want to drink enough but never want to go overboard again!!
You hear amazing birth stories and then you hear some horror stories. And here is mine. This is my birth experience. Everyone has a different experience but there is one thing for sure, Not one person has all the answers for a perfect birth. Do what seems right to you.
I was really blessed to have given birth at one of the top rated hospitals and it made a huge difference I think. My doctor and all the nurses were truly amazing and made me feel at home. Now leading up to the main event I really wasn’t sure what to expect but I was very calm. My doctor and I planned baby K’s birthday so I knew when everything was going to happen, which was perfect for me because I love to plan out everything. So I packed my bags (The Most Realistic Hospital Pack List) and was ready to go. Monday evening my husband drove me to the hospital and my mom came as well. I checked in and they got me set up in my room. I got hooked to my iv and started on fluids and pitocin. I ate my last meal around 9 or 10pm, wendy’s, and it was delicious. Definitely wish I would have eaten more before getting to the hospital. I then took a nap and around midnight my doctor came and broke my water. After sleeping the best I could through the night I had nurses checking in on me every so often. It is pretty nifty, you are hooked up to a machine and when you are having contractions you can’t feel you can see them!
Every single nurse/my doctor asked me from the moment I got to the hospital asked me what my plan was for pain management and every time I gave the response: Jesus. I was determined I could go all natural. Well Tuesday morning I began to feel the contractions come on. At first they were mild and very bearable but they jumped up about 10 notches in no time at all. I was scrunched up in a ball almost to tears. My husband felt terrible for me and felt worse that he couldn’t do anything for me. I finally got to the point where I just looked at my husband and said do something. So he called for the nurse. Haley, my nurse and angel, came and asked me if I wanted something and I told her that I didn’t want to make the decision and that I wanted her to make that decision for me. She laughed and said I’m getting an epidural. The team came in and sat me up and what I was excepting to be terrible I didn’t feel at all. And within minutes I felt like a new person. It was absolutely amazing and was a great decision. Shortly after I got my epidural Haley came in and said I think it’s time to push!
30 short minutes of pushing later I gave birth to the most beautiful little boy in the world! After he was cleaned up and I was stitched up I got to hang out and meet baby K. A couple hours later they rolled me over to a new room and I ate soooo much! I mean I went a while without eating and giving birth is extremely exhausting.
My next goal after giving birth and eating was to get my iv out. I hate them!!! My new nurse told me I had to pee 3 times and then she would take it out. I did that about as quickly as I could! I actually slept pretty well that night. Considering my husband and I were dealing with a new baby crying and not knowing what to do. The next day my husband had to go to work and family was out and about and I was pacing my room. I was yelled at every time she saw me up telling me I had to lay down. I was so antsy. Laying down was uncomfortable and I had been laying down for 2 days!
I finally got to take a shower and put real clothes on and Thursday i got to go home! I was so happy to go home and be in my own space. And that was how it went. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I even told my doctor that I had to have my baby here if we decided to have any more children.
Okay baby prepping sounds a bit like dooms day prepping but let me tell you some pros and cons to this practice. Of course every mom wants to be prepped and ready to go for baby to come but don’t get to crazy. Sure you will more than likely get lots of the same things at your baby shower and that is great if it is things like diapers and baby lotion and soap. But if you are going out to stock up hear this first, don’t go crazy.
I have be asked before how much of certain items babies go through and really there isn’t a ton. They are small creatures, no reason to go out and make sure you have 5 baby soaps and lotions on deck. My suggestion is to have enough to make it through about 6-8 weeks. This gets you through your postpartum time. I personally use the classic johnson’s and aveeno. When it comes to diapers I personally like buying in bulk. I would suggest if you want to stock up getting one big box of size 1-3. You will definitely need more, trust me but you don’t want to end up with tons of diapers in the wrong size left over. I can happily say so far I have not had one leftover, wrong sized diaper. I got tons of newborn packs at my baby shower and depending on how big your baby was when they were born you may not need a ton of newborn size. My son was almost 9 pounds so we used a few packs of newborn but didn’t need a huge box.
Wipes are also something I always keep in bulk. If you make sure the refill pack is sealed then they last! I have never had a problem. HUGGIES Natural Care Baby Wipes are my personal favorite. I know I have said it before but I am not sponsored, I just really like huggies better than any other brand I have tried.
The only other thing I keep stocked up on is formula. I will share my experience with breastfeeding in another post. I wish I could have kept it up longer but I just wasn’t producing enough. I made it 4 months and had to start supplementing and eventually go to all formula feeding. Anyways.. Gerber Good Start Gentle Non-GMO Powder Infant Formula, Stage 1(Pack of 6) is what works best for my little man. I went through a lot of trial and error and then also searched every store and online outlet for the best deal, because formula is so expensive!! Amazon, tried and trusty, had the best deal plus free shipping! Also if you are going to use formula or if you are pumping you gotta make sure you have bottles! Dr. Browns makes my personal favorite bottle.
What do you stay stocked up on? Let me know what you think in the comments!
