Becoming More Eco Conscious

Hey friends! This is not a fad post or saying that I’m swearing off meat, cars, and whatever else makes some people mad these days. What I have done is taken a few steps that are super simple to help do my part in how wasteful we can be.

These are some things you can easily do as well in your own home to create less waste. So why not!?

The first thing I’ve done is trying to not use plastic bags from the grocery store. I do forget my reusable bags on occasion but this is such a simple switch plus those plastic bags always rip and either spill my groceries. Or they get holes in them so I can’t reuse them in my small trash and or for cleaning out the litter box. Which is what I would normally use those bags for. So last time I was at TJMaxx I picked up a large reusable bag for .99 cents! Such a deal because it’s huge! I keep it in my truck for anytime I’m out and happen to shop or need to carry multiple things. It’s great to have on hand for so many things as well like dirty clothes from kids. Ya never know when a blowout or overfill bladder will get the best of you.

The next thing I’ve done is I stopped buying paper plates or styrofoam plates. We have a set of ceramic plates and washing off a plate after a meal literally takes 20 seconds. I found that people would grab a throw away plate for anything, like a sandwich and it wouldn’t get dirty and then throw it away. Such a waste! So this helps out the earth and your wallet!

Next up I’ve stopped with dryer sheets. You can pick up wool balls at Walmart or TJMaxx and they are reusable! Put a little essential oil on them and it leaves your clothes smelling amazing plus it helps dry your clothes quicker! Again this is a great option to save a little money.

So normally in our house we drink tap water. It’s never bothered me and it’s obviously the best option vs. buying plastic bottles. I actually hate when people buy packs of water because it is completely wasteful. I use a metal water bottle and fill it up all day never creating waste. But!! Where we moved our water is strange. It is clean and safe to drink but it is a light tan color and has a very distinct taste that I just can’t get into. So I began saving my milk jugs and instead of throwing them out I clean them and take them to the store to refill with purified water. It costs less than buying gallons of water and again I have little to no waste.

The last thing I’m working on in my house is to rid our house of paper towels. I literally never use them. My husband on the other hand does. I just don’t make a mess and if I do or my kids do I use a wet towel and clean up. I find paper towels so pointless.

So that’s it for now! As I continue to make greener choices and changes I will keep you updated!

Home Decor!

As some of you know we recently moved and bought a new home. Well new to us, but the house looks very 70’s in some rooms so this post will be in parts. Our yard is simply beautiful but the inside of the house needed some TLC.

While my husband was away for work my mother came down and helped me decorate the house and help with the kids. So grateful because my kids can be quite the handful when they choose. Isn’t that how it always is? Be crazy when dad is away.. anyways I wanted to share some fun wall art pieces that I picked up and put up around the house.

yes some of my walls are not the greatest of color but that will be another times project. I will share more complete images once I have the house together completely! But I love this little welcome sign I place right in the front entry way. You will see most pieces I have picked up will be wood and galvanized metal and tin. I love the rustic, farmhouse feel. This piece I absolutely love. I have tons of mason jars and even though it says it’s a candle holder I see flowers in these jars. What do you think?I got both of these tin/wood signs and placed each appropriately in the laundry and bathroom. I love them! They are pretty big so they add to the space without needing more or leaving too much blank space. Each one of these came from TJMaxx. I am all about a great deal and where I live, TJMaxx is pretty much the only store! They were all such a great deal how could I pass them up? Let me share a couple more items I grabbed!I am all about these metal mugs. I literally went through and pretty much got rid of all other coffee cups. Plus these can’t break and I am a total klutz. I freaked out when I saw the store had more and had to bring them home. The littlest things make me so happy!I also picked up this little crate to sit in the bathroom. The kids bathroom is pretty small so I use this to keep the space looking clean and oraganized. I keep the kids washcloths in it as well as wet wipes, extra toilet paper, q-tips..etc. This last picture shows my dining table. I picked up the runner at TJMaxx but the salt and pepper shakers, metal pitcher, and floral arrangement all came from Walmart. I feel Walmart really stepping up lately with what they offer. Everything is so cute, super budget friendly and fits my farmhouse theme perfectly!

I can’t wait to share more as I complete DIYs and other home projects and as we get renovations done! So stay tuned!

Boxycharm..

Hey everyone! How is your week treating you? Today I wanted to take a little time to talk about boxycharm. As you know if you’ve been a reader for a while I am obsessed with getting my boxycharm box each month, but lately I’ve been a little underwhelmed.

I usually do a monthly post sharing what goodies I received and what an amazing deal it is. While it still is the best deal out there and it’s fun to get new products to try out I have not been in love with what I’ve been getting. I haven’t made the post the last month or two because we have been moving and traveling and so I currently do not have an address.

So let’s take this months box. We all received a face oil primer type of product that I will literally never open. I also received a face serum of which I also will probably never touch. I am excited about the Becca setting powder and the lip liner and that alone pays for the box and more but I just don’t know. I don’t expect to love every product but this and upcoming boxes just don’t feel exciting anymore. I really feel like they have grown almost too big and can’t give everyone products that they would really want? Also I find it extremely frustrating that youtubers, influencers, and people like the kardashians are receiving the box… These people already get every makeup item out there for free and are more than able to pay for the box if they choose. But them getting the box early and with the very best variations of the box is not right.

I know I’m venting a bit but they really need to focus on those of us who pay and not on people who are getting all the products directly from brands already!!

What are your thoughts? Let me know!

Baby Brand Showdown

Alright fellow mommas and poppas! I have tested out just about every diaper brand available in stores to give you the full scoop! Of course know that these are all my opinions, I purchased everything myself and every baby is different.

Best overall

Hello Bello is a winner in every category! It’s a great price, gives great coverage, has super cute designs and the brand offers a full line of baby products. And I use them all!! You San save even more buy doing the subscription service! Diapers, wipes, diaper cream, body wash, lotion, conditioner and now they even have vitamins, baby oil and baby powder. It’s formulated without harsh chemicals and the packaging is adorable. Do yourself a favor, head to Walmart and try it out! They have multiple scents so there is something for everyone!

Honest brand:

I really enjoyed the honest company brand. The packaging is also adorable and the diapers worked well but it is a bit expensive. All the bath products smell nice and work well but again you’ll be paying for it!

Pampers:

I know so many people like pampers but let me just say I do NOT like them at all. The diapers always leaked and blew out and they are expensive!! Yea they are a no go in my house.

Huggies:

Huggies was always my go to and favorite brand with my first baby. I still love them. They are great quality and the price isn’t awful. I made the switch to Hello Bello and love that they are a great price and made with plant materials! I still use these for my son and huggies makes the best wipes!

Luvs:

They are cheap and they work but they feel scratchy and cheap. That’s pretty much all there is to that. Not exciting.

Seventh Generation:

Wanting to try a more natural diaper? Seventh generation are okay. I found they leaked bad if my baby laid on her side at all. And they were very expensive. Cute designs tho!

It’s so great that Kristin Bell and Dax Shepard came out with a brand using plant based materials and cleaner ingredients to create such an affordable brand!! They really beyond impressed me and work so well for my baby girl! Check them out!

Summer favorites!

Hello friends. I took some time and tried to address myself and who I wanted to be and consistent is a downfall area in my life since I had kids. So instead of playing games on my phone I will be more dedicated to myself and my goals! 💚

We are currently packing up some things in the house to prepare to be “homeless” (going to live with my parents) while we find a new house.
