Mont Bleu Review!

Hello friends! It’s time for another review. I have typically been doing these on Friday but this week we will have 2 reviews. So, as I posted on twitter recently, I was contacted by a company called Mont Bleu to try out some of their products. I want to distress that this is 100% my own personal opinion. I am not being paid to write a review. Okay now that that is said I did receive some products for free to try out. I also was given a discount code for all my wonderful readers and subscribers. I do not get any compensation by anyone using this code so don’t feel as though this has swayed my opinion in any way. The code is BLOG.FullSizeRender(14)

Okay so now that I got the nitty gritty out of the way lets jump in. First off I used to do my nails all the time but stopped after having my son. I have began to jump back in to doing my nails more recently now that he is a little older. The products I was sent are so beautiful! I received two glass nail files in two sizes that were studded in swarovski crystals. A glass foot file. A swarovski crystal studded tweezers. And a glass cuticle stick.IMG_0136

Here are the items in and out of packaging and I attempted to get a close up of the crystal details. I have tried all the items out and I have to say I am super impressed. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for some fantastic nail tools. The files smoothed and shaped my nails in just a few swipes. The tweezers were so bomb!! I am always on the lookout for amazing tweezers and these are sooooo good! The cuticle stick did just what it is supposed to do except I didn’t break it like I do to all the wooden ones. I was most excited and interested to try out the foot file. As crazy as that sounds. I walk around barefoot everywhere. I simply hate wearing shoes. I know they are supposed to be a womens favorite accessory and I definitely have some amazing shoes but living where I do at the moment I never get to wear nice things or dress up. So barefoot I stay. That being said I have very rough feet. They don’t look gross by any means but they are very rough. I definitely put the foot file to work and though it didn’t take away a life time of walking bare foot on every terrain imaginable, it definitely smoothed them out and made them softer.IMG_0135

Woof! I am sorry this is so long! Everything was truly amazing and it was a great experience being able to try these products out. If you want to have some for your own I will leave a few links below and don’t forget to use code BLOG to save 20%!!

DIY Stretchmark Remover: Final Thoughts

Okay I gave the homemade stretch mark remover a fair try and here are my final thoughts. If you are new and aren’t sure what I am talking about I will leave the link to my original post HERE.

Overall the cream I made helped but didn’t remove the marks 100%. It made an amazing, yummy chocolate smelling moisturizer. It really deeply moisturized without leaving my skin feeling sticky or tacky. It did smooth out my skin and make the stretch marks less deep but it wasn’t perfect. But realistically I didn’t expect something to be perfect in just 45 days. IMG_1296

As always loves if you have some crazy DIY’s let me know so I can try them out!!!

Liquid Diet: Yes or No?

Okay So I am not doing a 100% completely liquid diet but as I talked about in my previous post I just find it very difficult to eat fruits and veggies and meat. I primarily eat carbs- eekkk I know! So for this diet I am cutting out majority of carbs and bumping up my fruit, veggie, and protein intake. I am also revamping my workouts. Another part to mention about my new diet is to drink 128oz of water a day to help detox the liver and body. Be careful! You know if you have been around that I have actually given myself water poisoning so don’t go toooo crazy with the water! Aim for at least 80oz to start, especially if you are not a water person. It can be difficult to drink enough!FullSizeRender(11) So far the diet is going very well!! I wanted to share a smoothie that is very healthy! Only 153 calories per serving. The recipe makes two. Of course depending on your protein and liquid choices, the calories may change. I use a 100% whey protein in vanilla and it is sweetened with stevia instead of sugar from GNC (their brand).

Carrot Cake Smoothie, 2 servings:

  • 1/2 C. carrot juice
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3/4 C. almond milk ( I use vanilla and unsweetened)
  • 1 scoop of protein powder
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 5 ice cubes

So Tasty!!

So far my 70% liquid diet is a total YES! it is going so well. If I get hungry in between smoothies I eat a boiled egg or a salad with very light dressing. As I keep tasting and testing smoothie recipes I will share them! I also want to leave y’all with some easy quick exercises that I got from pinterest:IMG_1766Till Next time

Body Shaming, Diets, and Acceptance

Hello Lovelies! If you follow me on twitter (You should! click on the link to the left (: ) then you saw my brief post where I had a really traumatizing experience of trying on some clothes that really tore me apart. So this will be a little bit of a different post.

So Saturday my husband, son and I set off to look for some running shoes and a baby gate. Pretty typical errands type of thing. Well we happened upon a department store near the end of our journey that was completely on sale from going out of business. They had tons of beautiful dresses and so we chose some for me to try on. I despise trying on clothes especially now with this body after baby that I am just not used to. I am in no way huge or fat and I don’t ever expect to be rail thin but it was a depressing wake up call. I couldn’t even get most of the dresses on and one of them that I did get on, I didn’t think would come off. I left the store holding back tears. I know I have been on a journey working out to try and get my body back to pre baby but I was seriously upset. We went straight home, I made a grocery list, I threw out all the fattening foods, and went to the grocery and bought kale. KALE PEOPLE! I bought all healthy foods.

I guess I sort of needed that saturday experience but it really made me sad. I can’t stand to look at my body. And I honestly don’t care about people saying love your body because of it giving me my baby. Of course I love my baby and that I could create such a miracle but I hate the after math. I don’t think anything is wrong with that. I think what is important is that you accept where you came from, where you are, and where you want to be.

I made a baby. I look like I had a baby. And now I am making a change to get my body back and love the way I look.

Okay so moving on to making a change! First off let me say I am 2 months away from having my Masters in Public Health. I have studied health and nutrition and exercise and the human body for many years. I know what I need to do. I just have to stay motivated and committed to this new lifestyle.

I went to GNC and picked up a recommended 100% whey protein from a wonderfully helpful woman working. I also picked up an Organic Superfood blend with protein powder while at the grocery. I rarely eat vegetables so I got this powder because it gives me all the nutrients from eating fruits and veggies!IMG_1768

I have decided to do a high protein, low carb diet. I am making smoothies for breakfast and lunch. Then a lean protein with veggies for dinner. My husband is not fighting me on this because we both are wanting to lose some weight. I will be updating you guys every week with my progress, recipes, motivation, and fitness tips.

I get many of my smoothie recipes from Pinterest so give me a follow over there to see what recipes and workouts I am pinning at makemommyup !!

I started today. My goal by April 2018 (Honeymoon time!!) is to lose 40lbs. This is roughly 5lbs a month which is absolutely doable. I am not 100% worried about a number on the scale. For myself I want to feel and look good and be healthy. And of course I want my clothes to fit again!

OMG this is my longest post ever. You deserve an award for making it to the end!! I hope I can help motivate y’all and we can all make some changes to be more healthy together!

Join the fitness journey with me loves! Leave me comments here or on twitter. Leave your favorite healthy recipes or snacks!!

My Birth Story

You hear amazing birth stories and then you hear some horror stories. And here is mine. This is my birth experience. Everyone has a different experience but there is one thing for sure, Not one person has all the answers for a perfect birth. Do what seems right to you.

I was really blessed to have given birth at one of the top rated hospitals and it made a huge difference I think. My doctor and all the nurses were truly amazing and made me feel at home. Now leading up to the main event I really wasn’t sure what to expect but I was very calm. My doctor and I planned baby K’s birthday so I knew when everything was going to happen, which was perfect for me because I love to plan out everything. So I packed my bags (The Most Realistic Hospital Pack List) and was ready to go. Monday evening my husband drove me to the hospital and my mom came as well. I checked in and they got me set up in my room. I got hooked to my iv and started on fluids and pitocin. I ate my last meal around 9 or 10pm, wendy’s, and it was delicious. Definitely wish I would have eaten more before getting to the hospital. I then took a nap and around midnight my doctor came and broke my water. After sleeping the best I could through the night I had nurses checking in on me every so often. It is pretty nifty, you are hooked up to a machine and when you are having contractions you can’t feel you can see them!

Every single nurse/my doctor asked me from the moment I got to the hospital asked me what my plan was for pain management and every time I gave the response: Jesus. I was determined I could go all natural. Well Tuesday morning I began to feel the contractions come on. At first they were mild and very bearable but they jumped up about 10 notches in no time at all. I was scrunched up in a ball almost to tears. My husband felt terrible for me and felt worse that he couldn’t do anything for me. I finally got to the point where I just looked at my husband and said do something. So he called for the nurse. Haley, my nurse and angel, came and asked me if I wanted something and I told her that I didn’t want to make the decision and that I wanted her to make that decision for me. She laughed and said I’m getting an epidural. The team came in and sat me up and what I was excepting to be terrible I didn’t feel at all. And within minutes I felt like a new person. It was absolutely amazing and was a great decision. Shortly after I got my epidural Haley came in and said I think it’s time to push!

30 short minutes of pushing later I gave birth to the most beautiful little boy in the world! After he was cleaned up and I was stitched up I got to hang out and meet baby K. A couple hours later they rolled me over to a new room and I ate soooo much! I mean I went a while without eating and giving birth is extremely exhausting.

My next goal after giving birth and eating was to get my iv out. I hate them!!! My new nurse told me I had to pee 3 times and then she would take it out. I did that about as quickly as I could! I actually slept pretty well that night. Considering my husband and I were dealing with a new baby crying and not knowing what to do. The next day my husband had to go to work and family was out and about and I was pacing my room. I was yelled at every time she saw me up telling me I had to lay down. I was so antsy. Laying down was uncomfortable and I had been laying down for 2 days!

I finally got to take a shower and put real clothes on and Thursday i got to go home! I was so happy to go home and be in my own space. And that was how it went. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I even told my doctor that I had to have my baby here if we decided to have any more children.
