Becoming More Eco Conscious

Hey friends! This is not a fad post or saying that I’m swearing off meat, cars, and whatever else makes some people mad these days. What I have done is taken a few steps that are super simple to help do my part in how wasteful we can be.

These are some things you can easily do as well in your own home to create less waste. So why not!?

The first thing I’ve done is trying to not use plastic bags from the grocery store. I do forget my reusable bags on occasion but this is such a simple switch plus those plastic bags always rip and either spill my groceries. Or they get holes in them so I can’t reuse them in my small trash and or for cleaning out the litter box. Which is what I would normally use those bags for. So last time I was at TJMaxx I picked up a large reusable bag for .99 cents! Such a deal because it’s huge! I keep it in my truck for anytime I’m out and happen to shop or need to carry multiple things. It’s great to have on hand for so many things as well like dirty clothes from kids. Ya never know when a blowout or overfill bladder will get the best of you.

The next thing I’ve done is I stopped buying paper plates or styrofoam plates. We have a set of ceramic plates and washing off a plate after a meal literally takes 20 seconds. I found that people would grab a throw away plate for anything, like a sandwich and it wouldn’t get dirty and then throw it away. Such a waste! So this helps out the earth and your wallet!

Next up I’ve stopped with dryer sheets. You can pick up wool balls at Walmart or TJMaxx and they are reusable! Put a little essential oil on them and it leaves your clothes smelling amazing plus it helps dry your clothes quicker! Again this is a great option to save a little money.

So normally in our house we drink tap water. It’s never bothered me and it’s obviously the best option vs. buying plastic bottles. I actually hate when people buy packs of water because it is completely wasteful. I use a metal water bottle and fill it up all day never creating waste. But!! Where we moved our water is strange. It is clean and safe to drink but it is a light tan color and has a very distinct taste that I just can’t get into. So I began saving my milk jugs and instead of throwing them out I clean them and take them to the store to refill with purified water. It costs less than buying gallons of water and again I have little to no waste.

The last thing I’m working on in my house is to rid our house of paper towels. I literally never use them. My husband on the other hand does. I just don’t make a mess and if I do or my kids do I use a wet towel and clean up. I find paper towels so pointless.

So that’s it for now! As I continue to make greener choices and changes I will keep you updated!

Home Decor!

As some of you know we recently moved and bought a new home. Well new to us, but the house looks very 70’s in some rooms so this post will be in parts. Our yard is simply beautiful but the inside of the house needed some TLC.

While my husband was away for work my mother came down and helped me decorate the house and help with the kids. So grateful because my kids can be quite the handful when they choose. Isn’t that how it always is? Be crazy when dad is away.. anyways I wanted to share some fun wall art pieces that I picked up and put up around the house.

yes some of my walls are not the greatest of color but that will be another times project. I will share more complete images once I have the house together completely! But I love this little welcome sign I place right in the front entry way. You will see most pieces I have picked up will be wood and galvanized metal and tin. I love the rustic, farmhouse feel. This piece I absolutely love. I have tons of mason jars and even though it says it’s a candle holder I see flowers in these jars. What do you think?I got both of these tin/wood signs and placed each appropriately in the laundry and bathroom. I love them! They are pretty big so they add to the space without needing more or leaving too much blank space. Each one of these came from TJMaxx. I am all about a great deal and where I live, TJMaxx is pretty much the only store! They were all such a great deal how could I pass them up? Let me share a couple more items I grabbed!I am all about these metal mugs. I literally went through and pretty much got rid of all other coffee cups. Plus these can’t break and I am a total klutz. I freaked out when I saw the store had more and had to bring them home. The littlest things make me so happy!I also picked up this little crate to sit in the bathroom. The kids bathroom is pretty small so I use this to keep the space looking clean and oraganized. I keep the kids washcloths in it as well as wet wipes, extra toilet paper, q-tips..etc. This last picture shows my dining table. I picked up the runner at TJMaxx but the salt and pepper shakers, metal pitcher, and floral arrangement all came from Walmart. I feel Walmart really stepping up lately with what they offer. Everything is so cute, super budget friendly and fits my farmhouse theme perfectly!

I can’t wait to share more as I complete DIYs and other home projects and as we get renovations done! So stay tuned!

Clarisonic Sonic Foundation Brush Review

Hey everyone! How is your week going? I purchased this little baby around Christmas time and finally got around to testing it out. I have to say after all the reviews I had heard, I expected to be beyond obsessed with it. And for 39$… I kinda expected it to shave weight off my cheeks as well. Screen Shot 2018-04-24 at 12.08.13 PM

Well… I was unimpressed. So underwhelmed. It does work so don’t get me wrong, it isn’t a total flop. But I definitely will choose one of my trusty foundation brushes any day of the week! I felt as though I needed to smooth out my foundation after applying it with the clarisonic because of tiny little streaks.

Overall I would suggest saving your money and getting a great foundation brush which you can easily find much cheaper than the 40$ price tag of the brush head for the clarisonic.. Oh did I not mention that if you don’t already have a clarisonic you can tag another 100$ at least on to the price tag.

Till next time loves!

Current Beauty Favorites

It’s been a while since I’ve done an updated beauty favorites so here we go! Please let me know in the comments what you are loving. I love knowing what everyone is using and maybe I will find my next beauty favorite!

First up I have to mention Saturday Skin. I will not go into too much detail because I have a dedicated post to them which you can find Here:Saturday Skin- Changed My Life! IMG_4315Next item has been all over blogs and youtube and that is the Maybelline 24H foundation. I found this to give great coverage, it was super smooth, and lasted all day while playing outside with my Son. Two thumbs up from this girl!

Coulorpop has always killed the game with super affordable products and I picked up some more recently for my collection. I love these lippie stix. They are very creamy and have amazing pigment. I also picked up a lipstick and it was Amazing! I can’t get enough! Screen Shot 2018-04-02 at 1.51.16 PM

I recently picked up a new eyeliner and was so blown away by how good it was.. It was covergirl!! This totally shook me because it seems as though lately covergirl has just not been keeping up with trends or product or even packaging. It’s something I just pass by especially when you have brands like colourpop making bomb products at great prices. But after trying this eyeliner I may have to take a second look. I purchased a matte black and it doesn’t transfer or smudge. It is perfect.Screen Shot 2018-04-02 at 1.52.19 PM

Last up is lashes. I am obsessed with a great pair of lashes but when you wear them all the time you appreciate finding affordable lashes. I got this set from Your Lash Bar and they are fantastic. They are 3D faux mink and so fluttery and soft. I have many pairs from YLB and not all are super amazing. But I definitely reccommend the 3D faux Mink. I have the styles Side Car, Lemon Drop, and Appletini. ( From top to bottom)Screen Shot 2018-04-02 at 1.52.32 PM

That is it for today love bugs! I have lots more ideas coming to you soon!!

There aren’t a ton of shades but I found one that worked so well for me I was impressed!FullSizeRenderIt was so smooth and made my skin look flawless!! I applied it with my Y6 brush from Morphe for a super smooth, flawless application. I also tried out the new concealers from Colourpop and I really liked it! It did such a great job and all for only 6$!!

Also in the picture is a bracelet from Lucky Brand. Love the vintagey look!

Overall these two were all thumbs up!! Definitely recommend trying them out!
