Becoming More Eco Conscious

Hey friends! This is not a fad post or saying that I’m swearing off meat, cars, and whatever else makes some people mad these days. What I have done is taken a few steps that are super simple to help do my part in how wasteful we can be.

These are some things you can easily do as well in your own home to create less waste. So why not!?

The first thing I’ve done is trying to not use plastic bags from the grocery store. I do forget my reusable bags on occasion but this is such a simple switch plus those plastic bags always rip and either spill my groceries. Or they get holes in them so I can’t reuse them in my small trash and or for cleaning out the litter box. Which is what I would normally use those bags for. So last time I was at TJMaxx I picked up a large reusable bag for .99 cents! Such a deal because it’s huge! I keep it in my truck for anytime I’m out and happen to shop or need to carry multiple things. It’s great to have on hand for so many things as well like dirty clothes from kids. Ya never know when a blowout or overfill bladder will get the best of you.

The next thing I’ve done is I stopped buying paper plates or styrofoam plates. We have a set of ceramic plates and washing off a plate after a meal literally takes 20 seconds. I found that people would grab a throw away plate for anything, like a sandwich and it wouldn’t get dirty and then throw it away. Such a waste! So this helps out the earth and your wallet!

Next up I’ve stopped with dryer sheets. You can pick up wool balls at Walmart or TJMaxx and they are reusable! Put a little essential oil on them and it leaves your clothes smelling amazing plus it helps dry your clothes quicker! Again this is a great option to save a little money.

So normally in our house we drink tap water. It’s never bothered me and it’s obviously the best option vs. buying plastic bottles. I actually hate when people buy packs of water because it is completely wasteful. I use a metal water bottle and fill it up all day never creating waste. But!! Where we moved our water is strange. It is clean and safe to drink but it is a light tan color and has a very distinct taste that I just can’t get into. So I began saving my milk jugs and instead of throwing them out I clean them and take them to the store to refill with purified water. It costs less than buying gallons of water and again I have little to no waste.

The last thing I’m working on in my house is to rid our house of paper towels. I literally never use them. My husband on the other hand does. I just don’t make a mess and if I do or my kids do I use a wet towel and clean up. I find paper towels so pointless.

So that’s it for now! As I continue to make greener choices and changes I will keep you updated!

Home Decor!

As some of you know we recently moved and bought a new home. Well new to us, but the house looks very 70’s in some rooms so this post will be in parts. Our yard is simply beautiful but the inside of the house needed some TLC.

While my husband was away for work my mother came down and helped me decorate the house and help with the kids. So grateful because my kids can be quite the handful when they choose. Isn’t that how it always is? Be crazy when dad is away.. anyways I wanted to share some fun wall art pieces that I picked up and put up around the house.

yes some of my walls are not the greatest of color but that will be another times project. I will share more complete images once I have the house together completely! But I love this little welcome sign I place right in the front entry way. You will see most pieces I have picked up will be wood and galvanized metal and tin. I love the rustic, farmhouse feel. This piece I absolutely love. I have tons of mason jars and even though it says it’s a candle holder I see flowers in these jars. What do you think?I got both of these tin/wood signs and placed each appropriately in the laundry and bathroom. I love them! They are pretty big so they add to the space without needing more or leaving too much blank space. Each one of these came from TJMaxx. I am all about a great deal and where I live, TJMaxx is pretty much the only store! They were all such a great deal how could I pass them up? Let me share a couple more items I grabbed!I am all about these metal mugs. I literally went through and pretty much got rid of all other coffee cups. Plus these can’t break and I am a total klutz. I freaked out when I saw the store had more and had to bring them home. The littlest things make me so happy!I also picked up this little crate to sit in the bathroom. The kids bathroom is pretty small so I use this to keep the space looking clean and oraganized. I keep the kids washcloths in it as well as wet wipes, extra toilet paper, q-tips..etc. This last picture shows my dining table. I picked up the runner at TJMaxx but the salt and pepper shakers, metal pitcher, and floral arrangement all came from Walmart. I feel Walmart really stepping up lately with what they offer. Everything is so cute, super budget friendly and fits my farmhouse theme perfectly!

I can’t wait to share more as I complete DIYs and other home projects and as we get renovations done! So stay tuned!

March Boxy Charm!!

You have to know by now that this is my favorite day of the month. I mean, makeup has been delivered to my door!!! This months box was good and I’m so excited about it. From the sneak peeks I saw I couldn’t wait to get my fingers on the goodies.IMG_4243

So let’s jump in to the Bae-cation boxy charm box.

Let’s start out with the most exciting item which is the Pur cosmetics X Boxycharm eyeshadow palette. It is drop dead gorgeous. The peaches, the mattes, the shimmers, and my favorite summer color- a bright pop of blue. Retails 36$ and you can find it at Ulta or Purcosmetics.com. The colors are stunning and blend like a dream with major color payoff!                                        IMG_4250

Next a Mascara from Bellapierre Cosmetics. MSRP: 20$ This guy promises long lasting, volumizing mascara formulated to help create thicker and fuller lashes. After testing this one, it was a super disappointment. Not a huge deal since I wear false lashes but for the days I don’t… I will not be reaching for this at all.                                         IMG_4249

South Mane Beauty gave us Under Eye Gels for 10$ These make for a great easy mask without the clean up. They soften and moisturize to ensure that you look rested and refreshed.                                                                                              IMG_4246

The Vintage Cosmetic Company gave us a Smokey Eye Makeup Brush Set retailing at 23.15$ This brush set trio will enable you to create a stunning smokey eye. The brushes are so soft and who doesn’t love getting new brushes?? I know I’m a total addict. After testing these guys out I do like them for packing on color but probably won’t be my number one go to brushes. Still very nice tho! IMG_4248

I was so excited to get this Blush from Pretty Vulgar. I adore their packaging with the vintage look. I know Boxycharm sent out two shades and even though I didn’t get the shade I was hoping for, the one I got is still really pretty. The blush runs for 26$ The color I received was called Prim Vixen and it is so insanely bright.. Must go in with the lightest of hand.                                                                     IMG_4247

If you added that up, that is just over 115$ worth of product for only 21$!!!! I love this box so much!!! Definitely sign up while there is no waitlist!

February Favorites!

Hey Lovely Friends! This month I dove in to some great products and I just have to share. February was a strange month here in the South because it went from being really warm to a little chilly… I do not enjoy this chilly weather. I’m hoping it warms up soon. So I didn’t get out of the house much. Doing your makeup with no place to go is still fun but not clearly as exciting haha!

Even through all this I still managed to find some fabulous products I couldn’t put down and here they are.

  1. Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara. I am Obsessed with this mascara!!!! It is pitch black and leaves my lashes so full and long. It is definitely my go to for those days that I don’t put lashes on. The brush defines my lashes and I really can’t say enough good things. If you haven’t tried it then what are you waiting for???Screen Shot 2018-03-09 at 6.06.59 AMScreen Shot 2018-03-09 at 5.59.27 AM
  2. E.L.F. BB Cream SPF 20. This BB cream adds just the perfect touch of coverage and smooths out any redness. It is very inexpensive and gives spf coverage for the day. The BB cream is super blend-able and creamy. I reach for it everyday!
  3. Bad Habit Beauty “After” eye shadow collection palettes. These palettes are dupes for the Huda Beauty Palettes and OMG they are sooo creamy, pigmented, and build-able. And at only 10$ a pop… I mean come on. Ah-Mazing!
  4. Indian Healing Clay. Only 10$ and this jazz can do so many things! I have been using it for face masks and after only one use my pores were cleaner and smaller and my skin was incredibly silky smooth. It sells out quickly on the Hush app so keep your eyes peeled for it and get your hands on it as soon as you can!Screen Shot 2018-03-09 at 6.28.38 AM
  5. Lastly is not a makeup item but I am obsessed. The Ultimate Classic Jogger from VS Pink. OMG so soft and comfortable. A must have in your wardrobe for lounge days or everyday if you are me!                                             Screen Shot 2018-03-09 at 6.23.57 AM

What were you loving last month??

Wonderland Makeup Test and Review

Hello friends! I am back with another review for you. This time is a collaboration with the UK brand Wonderland. So without further ado let’s jump right in.

Wonderland sent me a primer, two pigments and a mascara. The package was so cute and I wanted to start with the packaging. IMG_3919 I love the simple black and white packaging. It’s clean and sleek and allows you to see what the product is clearly.

IMG_3920

Studio Finish Primer. I give this primer a 5 out of 5! It really is one of the best primers I have used. My skin was extremely smooth, pores were all filled, and my foundation went on so perfectly. Even in my normal editing process I didn’t have to touch my skin. I was truly impressed by this primer. My foundation also lasted all day without budging. This is a must try product! https://www.wonderlandmakeup.co.uk/primer/

Next product is the Wonderdust Loose Pigment. I have the colors Pandora (left) and Halo (right). I give these pigments 4.5 out of 5. I will say in my opinion you do need some sort of base or glitter glue to get an intense color pay off. These pigments are packaged so perfectly. They contain a sifter so you do not make a huge mess which is so nice compared to most other pigments I’ve seen on the market. https://www.wonderlandmakeup.co.uk/pigment/

IMG_3923

Wonderland Lash Thickening Mascara. 4 out of 5. This mascara is perfect for someone who loves a more natural look. For me it was the perfect mascara to coat my lashes before applying false lashes. I do wish that it gave my lashes more volume and length. It did however separate my lashes and left them without a single clump! This mascara wasn’t out of this world but it was really nice. Just apply more than one coat and you are ready to go!!https://www.wonderlandmakeup.co.uk/mascara/

Here is the look I created using these products. My skin never smoother and I used the blue as a base for the Halo pigment and the mascara coated my lashes of course. I had so much fun trying out these products and I will definetely have to try more!
