July Hits and Misses

I know I say it every month and I will probably continue to say it but WHEH! This month flew by!! It seems like the older you get the quicker the time flies by. So I do not have near as much as last month. In June I had purchased lots of products and tested them out. This month I have a few but not near as many. Okay so let’s jump in!Screen Shot 2017-08-02 at 9.38.31 AM

  1. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask- Lately my lips have been getting so chapped between the heat and the excessive testing of lip products. This is the one product that is truly amazing! I put it on at night and my lips are super moisturized and healed in the morning. This is a must have product for me!
  2. Mont Bleu Nail tools- I was able to test these products out recently and they are truly amazing and stunning. Studded in swarovski crystals they are beautiful to look at and have made a big difference in my nail routine!
  3. Colourpop Fem Rosa collection- OMG colourpop has done it again. Super affordable and beautiful color pay off. The lips are fantastic and the eyeshadows are a creamy dream.
  4. Garnier SkinActive Clean+ Pore Purifying 2-in-1 Clay Cleanser/mask- Last month I told you about a facial cleanser that I didn’t like at all, well this month I found one that I actually enjoy. I love that it doubles as a mask and it keeps my skin really clear.
  5. Munchkin weighted straw sippy cup- Okay so I threw one in for my moms out there. I haven’t added a baby one in a while because well I hadn’t had anything new to try out besides food. But these sippy cups are awesome! Because of the straw and the way everything attaches there are no leaks!!

For the misses this month I only have 2.

  1. Take and Toss sippy cups- These bad boys work… but they leak so badly!! Only put water in them if you decide to use them.
  2. E.L.F. toner- This toner was nothing special.. didn’t really do much for my skin so I don’t think it would be a repurchase.

That’s it for this month! Let me know what you loved and didn’t in the comments so I can try some new things out!!!

Fem Rosa Karrueche X Colourpop

I was going to be giving my thoughts on the new items from Maybelline but since I live in a small southern town we get everything super late so I am still waiting on some local stores to get the complete collection. So in the mean time I purchased the Fem Rosa collection and wanted to share its beauty! First off the packaging was so beautiful with the roses and the rose gold lettering. IMG_0137

Colourpop is known for its bomb products at super affordable prices. The palette retails for 16$ and has 12 shades. 8 Shimmer/satin and 4 matte. It is truly beautiful and has amazing color pay off. They are all in shades of pink, purple, plums, and rose golds. I love them!IMG_0139Next I got 2 lip shades from the collection in the colors Darling and MRS. They have great color pay off and are a satin finish. They are also currently doing a buy two lippies get one free, so for my free lip I got a ultra metallic lip in the shade kween. I am so excited to try this out because it is my first metallic lip!

Lastly I love that coloupop leaves little notes in their packages. Makes the whole experience extra special. I am also super excited that they are expanding their product line and will soon be carrying brushes and concealers. I will definitely let you know what my thoughts are on those!IMG_0142

till next time loves!

Mont Bleu Review!

Hello friends! It’s time for another review. I have typically been doing these on Friday but this week we will have 2 reviews. So, as I posted on twitter recently, I was contacted by a company called Mont Bleu to try out some of their products. I want to distress that this is 100% my own personal opinion. I am not being paid to write a review. Okay now that that is said I did receive some products for free to try out. I also was given a discount code for all my wonderful readers and subscribers. I do not get any compensation by anyone using this code so don’t feel as though this has swayed my opinion in any way. The code is BLOG.FullSizeRender(14)

Okay so now that I got the nitty gritty out of the way lets jump in. First off I used to do my nails all the time but stopped after having my son. I have began to jump back in to doing my nails more recently now that he is a little older. The products I was sent are so beautiful! I received two glass nail files in two sizes that were studded in swarovski crystals. A glass foot file. A swarovski crystal studded tweezers. And a glass cuticle stick.IMG_0136

Here are the items in and out of packaging and I attempted to get a close up of the crystal details. I have tried all the items out and I have to say I am super impressed. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for some fantastic nail tools. The files smoothed and shaped my nails in just a few swipes. The tweezers were so bomb!! I am always on the lookout for amazing tweezers and these are sooooo good! The cuticle stick did just what it is supposed to do except I didn’t break it like I do to all the wooden ones. I was most excited and interested to try out the foot file. As crazy as that sounds. I walk around barefoot everywhere. I simply hate wearing shoes. I know they are supposed to be a womens favorite accessory and I definitely have some amazing shoes but living where I do at the moment I never get to wear nice things or dress up. So barefoot I stay. That being said I have very rough feet. They don’t look gross by any means but they are very rough. I definitely put the foot file to work and though it didn’t take away a life time of walking bare foot on every terrain imaginable, it definitely smoothed them out and made them softer.IMG_0135

Woof! I am sorry this is so long! Everything was truly amazing and it was a great experience being able to try these products out. If you want to have some for your own I will leave a few links below and don’t forget to use code BLOG to save 20%!!

Liquid Diet: Yes or No?

Okay So I am not doing a 100% completely liquid diet but as I talked about in my previous post I just find it very difficult to eat fruits and veggies and meat. I primarily eat carbs- eekkk I know! So for this diet I am cutting out majority of carbs and bumping up my fruit, veggie, and protein intake. I am also revamping my workouts. Another part to mention about my new diet is to drink 128oz of water a day to help detox the liver and body. Be careful! You know if you have been around that I have actually given myself water poisoning so don’t go toooo crazy with the water! Aim for at least 80oz to start, especially if you are not a water person. It can be difficult to drink enough!FullSizeRender(11) So far the diet is going very well!! I wanted to share a smoothie that is very healthy! Only 153 calories per serving. The recipe makes two. Of course depending on your protein and liquid choices, the calories may change. I use a 100% whey protein in vanilla and it is sweetened with stevia instead of sugar from GNC (their brand).

Carrot Cake Smoothie, 2 servings:

  • 1/2 C. carrot juice
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3/4 C. almond milk ( I use vanilla and unsweetened)
  • 1 scoop of protein powder
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 5 ice cubes

So Tasty!!

So far my 70% liquid diet is a total YES! it is going so well. If I get hungry in between smoothies I eat a boiled egg or a salad with very light dressing. As I keep tasting and testing smoothie recipes I will share them! I also want to leave y’all with some easy quick exercises that I got from pinterest:IMG_1766Till Next time

Body Shaming, Diets, and Acceptance

Hello Lovelies! If you follow me on twitter (You should! click on the link to the left (: ) then you saw my brief post where I had a really traumatizing experience of trying on some clothes that really tore me apart. So this will be a little bit of a different post.

So Saturday my husband, son and I set off to look for some running shoes and a baby gate. Pretty typical errands type of thing. Well we happened upon a department store near the end of our journey that was completely on sale from going out of business. They had tons of beautiful dresses and so we chose some for me to try on. I despise trying on clothes especially now with this body after baby that I am just not used to. I am in no way huge or fat and I don’t ever expect to be rail thin but it was a depressing wake up call. I couldn’t even get most of the dresses on and one of them that I did get on, I didn’t think would come off. I left the store holding back tears. I know I have been on a journey working out to try and get my body back to pre baby but I was seriously upset. We went straight home, I made a grocery list, I threw out all the fattening foods, and went to the grocery and bought kale. KALE PEOPLE! I bought all healthy foods.

I guess I sort of needed that saturday experience but it really made me sad. I can’t stand to look at my body. And I honestly don’t care about people saying love your body because of it giving me my baby. Of course I love my baby and that I could create such a miracle but I hate the after math. I don’t think anything is wrong with that. I think what is important is that you accept where you came from, where you are, and where you want to be.

I made a baby. I look like I had a baby. And now I am making a change to get my body back and love the way I look.

Okay so moving on to making a change! First off let me say I am 2 months away from having my Masters in Public Health. I have studied health and nutrition and exercise and the human body for many years. I know what I need to do. I just have to stay motivated and committed to this new lifestyle.

I went to GNC and picked up a recommended 100% whey protein from a wonderfully helpful woman working. I also picked up an Organic Superfood blend with protein powder while at the grocery. I rarely eat vegetables so I got this powder because it gives me all the nutrients from eating fruits and veggies!IMG_1768

I have decided to do a high protein, low carb diet. I am making smoothies for breakfast and lunch. Then a lean protein with veggies for dinner. My husband is not fighting me on this because we both are wanting to lose some weight. I will be updating you guys every week with my progress, recipes, motivation, and fitness tips.

I get many of my smoothie recipes from Pinterest so give me a follow over there to see what recipes and workouts I am pinning at makemommyup !!

I started today. My goal by April 2018 (Honeymoon time!!) is to lose 40lbs. This is roughly 5lbs a month which is absolutely doable. I am not 100% worried about a number on the scale. For myself I want to feel and look good and be healthy. And of course I want my clothes to fit again!

OMG this is my longest post ever. You deserve an award for making it to the end!! I hope I can help motivate y’all and we can all make some changes to be more healthy together!

Join the fitness journey with me loves! Leave me comments here or on twitter. Leave your favorite healthy recipes or snacks!!

Baby Things I Regret Buying

So I did not purchase all of these things, some of them I received of my registry. Live and Learn right?

So the first thing I regret getting and it literally sits in a drawer and that is these munchkin spoons. Screen Shot 2017-05-12 at 9.43.35 AMI am not saying they are awful but they just don’t work for me! They are flatter than other spoons and make feeding difficult. ESPECIALLY if you are trying to feed cereal. Way to runny and you get no food staying on the spoon.

Next is the munchkin suction bowls. Now let me first say that I use these bowls every single day. but I just don’t like that I can’t microwave and the suction portion doesn’t always work. Screen Shot 2017-05-12 at 9.47.23 AMAgain I love the design and the colors, I just wish they could be microwaved and suction better.

Okay next up is multiple nursing covers. I got one that I love that is a style of an infinity scarf. But I really used it maybe 4 or 5 times. I was never really in a situation where I was going to be flashing the world. And if I was then I would have used a blanket. I had multiple covers and it just wasn’t necessary.Screen Shot 2017-05-12 at 9.57.41 AM Maybe it is for you but just not for me!

So this next product I don’t necessarily regret buying but it doesn’t get much love at my house. I know some people use them every single day but that is just not going to happen in my world and that is the beloved pack n’ play. Screen Shot 2017-05-12 at 10.03.33 AMI have this particular one because it was not ungodly expensive. We did use it when Baby K was first born as his bassinet to sleep in our room. But when he turned about a month or 2 old he went to his crib and this bad boy was packed up and not for play. We literally only use it if we travel, which sadly isn’t very often.

Lastly is our Bumbo. Screen Shot 2017-05-12 at 10.07.10 AM          I loved this thing for a minute and then I got a high chair and I barely use this thing. I don’t really have a reason or use for it?! I want to love it so much but I just don’t now that I have a high chair.

What do you regret buying? I am so curious to know!!
