Boxy Charm (BOXY LUXE) Wild Flower- September 2018

Hello Friends! I have been on a bit of a break because of being so dang sick! This baby is determined to take all my food and all my energy but I definitely got a boost with the arrival of my Boxy Luxe box.

First I want to talk about the launch of Boxy Luxe. It was a bit messy. I think it’s crazy for the company to not think they would have the amount of traffic they did especially with how much they hyped it up. I am beyond grateful I did get thru and received the box. I didn’t think I did at first. It wasn’t until hours later my bestie told me that we did in fact make it on the list!! Talk about an emotional day. Any who lets jump into the goods!

IMG_6607Here she is in all her glory. Let me just say it is so much better in person. I don’t think I have ever been so excited for a box! IMG_6610First up I  received the Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette from tarte. It is stunning and smells like chocolate which is oh so delicious. The shades blend like a dream with amazing pigment and super creaminess. This would also double as a great quick neutral eye palette! MSRP – 45$

Next pictured is the Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette. This is a very pretty neautral palette in which you can create multiple looks. It has nice pigment and blends well. There are also chocolately colors as well as greys. MSRP – 35$

Lastly pictured is the Girlactik Skin Glow Duo. I was really excited about this at first but I do wish I would have gotten the Laura Gellar blush instead now. This is a cream highlight and just doesn’t pack the punch that I love but I will have to keep playing with it to see if I can change my mind. MSRP – 26$

IMG_6609Next up I received the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-wrinkle Booster Serum. I am sooo excited about this serum. I am die hard for the lancome genifique but it is crazy expensive. I am hoping to love this product just as much and maybe have a new favorite serum. Also happy I received the serum instead of the moisturizer because I am currently drowning in moisturizers. lol Juice Beauty is a great all natural, cruelty free brand and I may have to grab more products! MSRP – 80$

Pictured in the middle is the Sol De Janeiro Ipanema Sunset Glow Oil. This of course smells so amazing like everything else they make and leaves skin with a very natural glow. I thought it would be over the top but it’s really perfect even if you aren’t super tan like moi. MSRP – 35$

Lastly pictured is the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water in the scent centering citrus. It does smell good and leave the skin refreshed but I’m not sure yet if it does anything as a primer. Further testing will have to be done. MSRP – 32$

IMG_6611Who isn’t excited to get brushes?? I have a ton and I always want more. I honestly wanted to purchase these alamar Ojitos brushes just on how cute they are with that green. Lucky for me I thought they would show up in a boxy charm box eventually, so I waited. They are super soft and apply shadow beautifully but I do prefer a natural hair brush for blending. MSRP – 18$

As for this Luxie 732 Airbrush Foundation Brush… well let’s just talk about luxury! It is so soft and my foundation is blended like a dream. It is pricey but OMG it is so amazing. New favorite for sure! MSRP – 38$IMG_6612Lastly in the box I received R+Co High Dive Moisture Shine Cream. I haven’t tried this out yet so the verdict is out still. But I’m not a huge fan of hair products. I will give it a fair chance tho. MSRP – 16$

I got the Lorac Pro Liquid Lipstick. I’m so obsessed with this true red shade. Nude colors just don’t look great on me and I’m all about bold lips. That makes a statement that I love. MSRP – 19$

Last in the picture is the Vintage Cosmetic Company Dolly Bow Make-up Headband. Perfect for keeping your hair back as you clean your skin, apply makeup, or relax with a face mask. MSRP – 4.99$

Oh and don’t forget that super cute tote! That was unexpected. If you weren’t keeping that is a value of $348.99. That is just amazing and So exciting! Boxycharm slays the game again!

Boxy Charm Breakdown

August is in full swing and 2018 is flying away. This month Boxy Charm was the Life of the Party! Or so their theme suggested. Let’s dive in to this months offerings and I’ll let you know what I thought. IMG_6368

First item was either a hate it or love it kind of deal. The Laura Lee Los Angles Party Animal palette. It’s bold and bright. The colors blend very nicely and give great color payoff. But they are bright! The main thing I don’t like about the palette is that it is difficult to make a complete look. It needs at least one light, matte shade to blend out everything. Just my opinion tho. The palette retails for 19$IMG_6369

Next up is the Smashbox Pucker Up Palette in Bold. It comes with 6 of their best selling Be Legendary bold lipstick colors. I love lipstick so much but I hate lip palettes. They just aren’t convenient in my opinion and the colors are definitely for fall. This will be going in my special effects kit. Retails for 24$

Next I got the Tarte Cosmetics Lifted Sweat Proof Mascara. I do love that it is sweat proof but it is in a black brown shade. Not a huge deal when I’m wearing lashes but when I don’t it is lackluster. Retail is 23$Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 12.32.01 PM

This months box contained Wander Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks. These promise to brighten, hydrate, and reduce the appearance of dark circles and fine lines. I’m not a a huge user of eye masks but it makes perfect sense for the theme of the box. Get these guys for 13$ Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 12.32.10 PM

This item is total junk if I’m being completely honest. The Bang Beauty Chocolate Eyeliner feels like it was left laying around from last year and they gave it to boxy charm for free… I attempted to use it as eyeliner and it removed my eyeshadow without laying product down. I tried using it as a brow product but this formula is so dry and chunky.. ugh such a throw away. And it’s 22$$$ Insane!                Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 12.32.20 PM

Last product seems to be like a little bit of an after thought. NCLA So Rich Lollipop Lollipop is a cuticle oil. I’m sure everyone could or should use this item but I rarely do my nails so I just didn’t get excited. Could be wrong with how everyone else feels tho! Grab yours for 18$Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 12.31.44 PM

Overall I always think boxycharm is still an amazing deal even if you only like 1 or 2 items. 21$ but a value of 119$ Hoping that next month brings better surprises.

August Favorites!

I am sorry this is going up so late! It was a long weekend spent away with the family and friends. I thought about working on posts and pictures and homework and I decided that I deserved a little break, so I took one!Screen Shot 2017-09-05 at 9.17.39 AM

Let’s jump into these favs I had for the month!!

  1. Models Own Foundation- Go check out my review on this foundation. It is great and sometimes I even mix in some moisturizer to make it a little thinner for quick trips to get groceries when I don’t want a full face.
  2. Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara- I rediscovered my love for this mascara. It is amazing and the brush is super full and thick. I love it!
  3. Tarte- Rainforest of the sea vol. 2- I normally don’t go crazy over tarte but this palette is perfect for travel. It creates a perfect neutral look and is such cute packaging.
  4. Victoria Secret Pink Backpack- These backpacks are not only so freaking adorable but are perfect for everything. I don’t go to a physical school, I go online, but I have my backpack for keeping everything all in one place. Especially for blogging! I have lots of notebooks and pens and stickynotes so I never forget a thing!!

Okay so I didn’t have a ton this month. We did a lot of traveling, guests over, and events which didn’t leave tons of time for shopping and testing. But I’ll be back at it. There are so many great products coming out. Plus the closer we get to the holidays, it’ll only get better and better!

Till next time loves!

Empties! Would I Buy Again?

I don’t get to write this post very often because honestly I rarely hit the empty point on many products. Usually I end up buying something new and not finishing what I had before. It is kinda sad, I know..Screen Shot 2017-07-12 at 10.02.20 AM

So let’s jump in!

  1. C. Booth Body Scrub and Cleanser, Walnut Shell– I absolutely love this stuff!! It smells so amazing. I use it mainly as an exfoliater on my legs, thighs, and stomach. It helps to smooth out the skin and helps with texture. Final thoughts- I would absolutely buy this again!
  2. Biore Charcoal Acne Cleanser– As much as i love biore I really didn’t enjoy this cleanser at all. I am surprised that I used it all. It had some sort of minty feeling that really bothered my eyes. I will not be repurchasing but I do love other of their products!
  3. Smashbox Photo Finish Shadow Primer– Even when I use eyeshadow primer every single day it lasts forever!!! I finally hit the end of this primer and I enjoyed every single look i created with this as the base! Totally would buy this again! I don’t know if I can live without it!

Alright guys I am going to try to be more committed to finishing products and hopefully I will be able to continue with this post!

Till next time loves!

High End VS. Drug Store: My Favorites

It’s no secret that I have an obsession with makeup. It has been a major part of my life for the past 10 years, since I first started as a makeup artist. As a mom now I haven’t quieted my obsession but I like to look at prices a little more and find products that I love just as much as the high end product but at a faction of the cost! Here is my list:

Screen Shot 2017-04-07 at 6.55.59 AM

I will say this disclaimer before I start bc I will end up repeating it a million times. It was extremely difficult to pick my number 1 product for some of the categories and I have many favorites in some of them like concealers..

Primer: Smashbox 36$ vs Rimmel 7$ Both of these primers are awesome and if you have oily skin then definitely give the rimmel a try! It is so bomb! and worth a try before spending the 30$ more.

Foundation: Clinique beyond perfecting 28$ vs E.L.F flawless finish 6$ I have been using the clinique for about a month and a half now and I really enjoy it. It has such a beautiful finish. The elf is only 6$!!!! It is literally so amazing only downside is there aren’t many shades.

Concealer: Stila aqua glow serum concealer 27$ vs other high end brands like mac pro long wear. I haven’t found a drug store brand that i love yet.

Powder: Laura Mercier. Need I say more? I don’t even have another translucent powder.

Bronzer: Marc Jacobs O!mega bronze 49$ vs Covergirl Mineral Bronzer 7.99$

Blush: Pur Minerals 18$ vs Milani rose powder blush 9$ both are so amazing that I have back ups for them both. Literally.

Highlight: Becca 38$ Unfortunately I don’t have a drugstore highlighter. I ordered one from elf today so should be here shortly. If you have a recommendation for me Please tell me in the comments!!!

Eyeshadow: Lorac vs Morphe Both are impeccable quality and should be owned!!!

Eyeliner: Mac gel 17$ vs. Maybelline 8.99$ They both work great but Mac is still my absolute favorite. I have been using it for years!!

Mascara: Too faced better than sex 23$ vs L’Oreal feline 8.99$ TF gives insane volume and l’oreal gives great length.

Brows: ABH dipbrow 18$ vs. elf brow pencil 2$…. 2$!! need I say more? Both are amazing but if you want something super quick and easy then elf.. just try it trust me!

Lashes: House of Lashes 12$ vs. Ardell 3.99$

Lips: Bite Beauty lip crayon 24$ vs. Colourpop lippie stix 5$ The great thing about about bite beauty is how long they last and the amazing color it puts out. But then again colourpop is pretty amazing too!

Let me know all of your favorites in the comments so I can give them a try!! All of my favorites can be found on Ulta.com, sephora.com, or target except morphe, colourpop and house of lashes which can be found at their own personal websites.

xoxo Erin
